Dryer Door Latch and Catch Kit
Ensure your dryer door stays firmly shut during high-speed tumbling cycles with this Factory Certified Door Latch Kit. If your dryer door pops open mid-cycle, won’t click shut, or unlatches with the slightest touch, the metal or plastic retention clips have likely worn down or broken.
Because dryer manufacturers use a few different closure styles depending on the exact year and model, this universal multi-piece kit is engineered to cover multiple configurations. It includes three different styles of inner door catches (female receptacle) and two styles of door strikes (male prong), ensuring you have the exact geometry required to restore a tight, secure seal.
Quick Info:
-
Compatibility: Universal style engineered for major brand dryers (refer to the included instruction sheet to match your original parts).
-
Fixes Common Issues: Resolves doors that pop open, dryers that shut off prematurely because the door loose-fits, and doors that refuse to latch.
-
Kit Contents: Includes (3) Distinct Door Catches, (2) Distinct Door Strikes.
-
Difficulty: Novice. A quick and easy 10-minute DIY repair.
Tools Needed:
-
Phillips-head screwdriver (to remove the door-side strike or access screws)
-
Needle-nose pliers (to squeeze and pinch out the old catch from the front panel frame)
Pro Tip: When removing the old catch from the dryer’s front sheet-metal panel, use your needle-nose pliers from inside the door jamb to squeeze the retaining tabs together, then push it outward. When installing the new pieces, make sure the strike and catch align perfectly horizontally; if the dryer door hinges are slightly sagging, the strike may miss the catch, causing it to wear out prematurely or fail to lock.
Safety First: Even though this is primarily a mechanical frame repair, you must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker before starting. A loose door or working around the door frame can accidentally trigger the sensitive internal door safety switch, which carries live voltage to the motor circuit.
