Range Element Receptacle and Wire Kit (Surface Socket Kit)

Restore a safe, continuous electrical connection to your cooktop with this Factory Certified Element Receptacle and Wire Kit. Also known as the burner socket or terminal block kit, this part connects your plug-in surface elements to the range’s internal wire harness. If your burner heats up intermittently, only works when you wiggle the coil, or won’t turn on at all, the metal terminals inside the old socket have likely spread open, corroded, or burnt out.

As a Factory Certified Part, this kit is built with premium, high-temperature ceramic or phenolic insulation designed to withstand the intense radiant heat underneath your stovetop, preventing electrical shorts and wire failure.

Quick Info:

  • Compatibility: Universal style engineered for major electric range brands utilizing plug-in coil elements.

  • Fixes Common Issues: Resolves dead burners, intermittent heating, visible sparking at the element connection, and loose-fitting burner coils.

  • Kit Contents: Includes (1) Receptacle Block, (2) Mounting Brackets (choose the one that matches your original), (2) Wire Leads, (2) Ceramic Wire Nuts, and (2) Pieces of Heat-Shrink Tubing.

  • Difficulty: Novice to Intermediate. Requires basic disassembly and minor wiring/splicing work.

Pro Tip: Never plug a new heating element into a burnt or charred receptacle. If you peer inside the slots of your old socket and see black pitting or melted material, it creates high resistance. Plugging a new burner into a bad socket will rapidly ruin the terminals of your brand-new element. Always replace them together if the socket shows signs of heat damage.

Installation Steps:

  1. Disconnect Power: You must unplug the range or turn off the house circuit breaker before starting.

  2. Remove Components: Pull the burner element straight out of the socket and lift away the drip pan.

  3. Access the Receptacle: Prop up the cooktop surface and unscrew the old receptacle bracket from the range frame.

  4. Splice the Wires: Cut the old wires back past any brittle or heat-damaged insulation. Strip the wire ends and use the included high-temperature wire nuts and heat-shrink wrap to securely splice the new receptacle kit into the wiring harness.

  5. Mount & Reassemble: Screw the new bracket into place, lower the cooktop, and firmly slide your burner element into the fresh socket.
